Pediatric Orthopedic Medicine Physician
Dr. Stephen J. Stricker is a pediatric orthopedic medicine physician with the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Orthopedic, Sports Medicine & Spine Institute. Dr. Stricker earned his combined Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. He completed a general surgery internship followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery at Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami. His clinical interests include pediatric acute and complex fractures, general orthopedic concerns, sports injuries, and hip, limb and foot conditions. He was the first orthopaedic surgeon in South Florida to perform the Ilizarov limb-lengthening technique
Prio to joining Nicklaus Children’s, Dr. Stricker served as an attending physician specializing in pediatric orthopedics at Jackson Memorial Health System in Miami, where he held numerous academic and clinical leadership roles, including director of pediatric orthopedic surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital from 2006 to 2025 and chief of the pediatric orthopedic surgery division at the University of Miami from 1990 to 2006. He also held the academic title of clinical voluntary professor emeritus in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Dr. Stricker is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has maintained continuous certification through recertification cycles. His academic contributions include authorship of peer-reviewed publications, review articles, and book chapters focused on pediatric orthopedic conditions. He has also served as a manuscript reviewer for multiple medical journals and has participated in clinical education and training of residents and medical students.
Dr. Stricker is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and member of several professional organizations, including the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and Florida Orthopaedic Society.
Dr. Stricker is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
